Well done to the senior and reserve sides on their wins over Naomh Brid on Sunday.Malin Seniors 2-05 Naomh Brid Seniors 1-06, Malin reserves 2-07 Naomh Brid reserves 1-05 . Malin seniors and reserves have no game this coming weekend, next outing is the Championship home leg against Kilcar the weekend 26th/27th May.
The annual sports day takes place on the Bank Holiday Sunday, June 3rd, beginning at 1-00pm with proceeds going towards local charities
About the Club
Malin GAA Club, as it now stands, began in 1960 with representatives of all parts of the parish meeting together to form a club, on the understanding that the entire parish should be represented. During the early 60s, trial games were held throughout the parish and gradually a junior team emerged, comprising mainly of the Ward family, the McLaughlins (Jimmy Micky), McCandless', O'Neills, Dohertys from Umgal and Cregga, Eamon Doherty(E) Culkeeny, the late Packie McGonagle and Shaun Noone with Joe Gallagher as captain.The club played their games in Lagg field, beside the chapel, but soon saw the need for a bigger and more central park and so began extensive fund-raising activities to secure the present grounds which, after ten years of hard work, were officially opened on 25th May 1969 by Seamus O'Riain, president of the GAA. Since then the club has gone from strength to strength, producing a steady stream of young players who now compete with teams from all over Donegal.

Over fifty years after it was first formed, Malin GAA is stronger than ever, its success to date owing in no small part to the dedication of club members and the backing of the malin community, who support it in its efforts. The club boasts a plethora of teams, senior and junior, men's and ladies, who represent it in various competitions throughout the county. In addition, the quality and skill of its players has been recognised at county level, with a number of players picked to represent their county on the field. With continued dedication from all members of the club, and with the support that is always so willingly given by the people of malin and the surrounding areas, the future of CLG Malainn has never looked brighter. |
