Donegal Match
Declan WalshDespite the disappointing result in the Donegal Kerry game, it was none the less a proud day for Malin GAA club with both Charlie Byrne and Declan Walsh representing the county side.

Dinner Dance
The annual dinner dance took place in the Malin Hotel on Saturday, 31st January with almost 300 people in attendance, 1992 County Chairman Naul McCole as guest speaker and club vice-chairman Kevin McGeoghegan MC on the night. Awards on the night were as follows

Patrick Kelly picked up the Packie McGonagle memorial cup, the trophy for the senior Inishowen title which Malin won last year while the ladies received their league runner up medals, Marie Houten also collecting the Mary Houton memorial shield and medals for the Malin Town side who won the ladies parish league. The Malin U-16 and minor sides also collected their Inishowen medals while the Malin dancing team that won the county Scor na nOg, Tanya McLaughlin, Sinead McGonagle, Emma McDaid, Nicole McColgan, Olivia McColgan, Megan Doherty, Mairead McLaughlin and Mary Collins, also collected their awards.

Awards were also made to club referees Shaun McLaughlin, Sean Venn and Paul McLaughlin, to Grainne Byrne for representing the club with the Donegal Ladies minors, and to Declan Walsh and Charlie Byrne for representing Malin with the Donegal senior side.

Upcoming Matches
 Malin seniors have resumed training in preparation for the 2009 season. The club have entered this years Ulster Senior League competition and the fixtures are provisionally as follows; February 8th, away to Lochmacrory(Tyrone); February 15th, home to Clann Na Gael(Armagh), February 22nd, home to Portglenone(Antrim); 1st March, away to Dungiven(Derry). February 15th is also the club registration day for under age players and the Sam Maguire Cup will be in attendance at the Malin GAA centre from 3-5 pm, hopefully one of the Tyrone senior side will also be there, photographs welcome.

Coaching Course
 The foundation coaching course takes place in Malin GAA Centre this weekend, Friday 6th and Saturday 7th February, with the child protection course starting proceedings on Friday at 7-00pm.

Training
Under 16 and minor training takes place every Thursday at 7-00pm, all players in above age groups asked to attend.  Hurling/ Camogie for 7 to 12 year olds continues on Fridays from 5-30 to 6-30pm in the GAA centre, cost is 2 Euro per child. U-14 training continues every Monday at 6-00pm. All players are asked to bring boots and runners and all new players welcome. U-8 training will begin again on Sunday, 8th February at the usual time of 11-00am. Training for girls interested in playing Gaelic football continues every Wednesday from 5/6 pm in the GAA centre. Girls have to be between 6th class in primary school to 3rd year in secondary school, all girls asked to bring boots and runners.

Quiz
A Know Your Parish quiz will take place in the GAA centre on Friday, February 20th, beginning at 9-00pm, the idea being that as many townlands as possible in Malin Parish will be represented and all support is welcome.

Traditional Music
Traditional Music Sessions continue on the first Friday of every month in the GAA Centre and all musicians are welcome. Next session is on Friday 13th February. Comhra Gaeilge, informal conversation through Irish and a cupan tae, will take place after the music session and all levels of Gaeilge are welcome.

Watch your Weight
Watch your Weight continues every Wednesday and Friday at 7-00pm for men and at 9-00pm for ladies(Wednesdays only for now) all ages welcome.

Lotto
There was no winner of this weeks lotto jackpot. The sequence drawn was 5,6,7,1,3,4,2. Aiden Doherty, Ard Ronan, Malin Head won the E50 prize with the E20 sellers prize going to Seamus Doherty(PM), Malin Head. This weekend’s jackpot is E800 and as always we thank the local community for its continued support.

Match Reports
The Ulster Senior League game away to Lochmacrory was cancelled at the weekend due to adverse weather conditions, Malin now meet Clann na Gael from County Armagh this Sunday,15th February in Malin at 2-00pm, weather permitting of course. Club News - 16th February '09

Condolences
The tragic and untimely death of Martin McLaughlin on Saturday evening has left the entire local community shocked and saddened. Martin’s brothers Steven and John Gerard both represent the GAA club on the playing field while Martin himself helped in no small way with the construction of the GAA centre in Malin. The club conveys its deepest sympathies to Martin’s mother Kathleen, his brothers Steven and John Gerard and his sister Ann Marie, and also to the extended McDaid(Crua) and McLaughlin(Davy) families.

Match Fixtures
Due to the tragic events of Saturday evening, the Ulster Senior Club League game between Malin and Clann na Gael was cancelled while the under age registration was postponed. This weekend Malin are at home to Portglenone in the Ulster Club League at 2-00pm and the under age registration will follow between 4 and 6pm in the GAA centre.

Match Reports
The seniors were defeated by Portglenone in their first game of 2009 on Sunday. This Sunday they meet Dungiven away.

Club Meeting
A club committee meeting will take place on Thursday 26th February at 8-30pm, all committee members are asked to attend.

Scor
Anyone wishing to represent the club in senior Scor should contact David Gallagher 0868073786 as soon as possible, Scor takes place this weekend.

Chairty Dance
The club is running a charity dance in the Malin Hotel on Saturday 28th March with music by Shunie Crampsie. Tickets are E5 each and all proceeds go to Carndonagh Hospital, all support for this worthy cause is appreciated.
