Club News - 14th June '09
Match Results
- The reserves drew away to Termon in the reserve league on Saturday, 0-10 to 1-07, this weekend the senior side travel to Termon in the All County League, check local press for time and date and all support is welcome.
- The U-14 side had a fantastic time in Leeds last weekend, drawing with a Leeds side on Saturday and beating a Manchester side on Sunday. They were brought back to earth with a bump at home to Urris on Tuesday evening, the visitors hitting 3 second half goals before a mini revival by Malin but it was too little too late, Urris winning by 3-09 to 2-05.
Club Meeting
There will be a club monthly meeting on Thursday 18th June beginning at 9-00pm, all committee members are asked to attend.
Fixtures
- Malin ladies are home to Muff on Friday, 19th June at 7-30pm, all support welcome.
- The U-16s will meet Buncrana in the Inishowen A final which takes place after the exams, they defeated Carndonagh in the County Northern Shield final last week.
Gym Membership
Gym membership is now available at E100 per year per person or E170 for family membership. Anyone wanting to join the gym must do an induction with Charlie Byrne, Charlie can be contacted on 087 4103782.
VHI Summer Camp
This years VHI summer camp takes place in Malin from Monday 20th /Friday 24th July. This is an enjoyable week for children aged 7 to 13 years old, boys and girls. It consists of 4 days coaching with coaches from all over the county and a sports day on the Friday where each child will receive their kit and bag. The cost for the week is E65 for the 1st child and E50 for each additional child in a family while a bus will be available throughout the parish. For application forms and further information contact Maria McLaughlin on 087 7763679.
Club Lotto
There was no winner of this weeks lotto jackpot. The sequence drawn was 6,3,4,7,5,2,1. Marita Doherty, Slieveban, won the E50 prize with the E20 sellers prize going to Seamus Doherty, Malin Head. Next weeks jackpot is E1,300 and we thank the local community for their continued support.
Congratulations
Finally, congratulations to young Danny McCarron who played for the Donegal bunscoil team at half time in the Ulster Championship game in McCumhaill Park and scored a goal, well done to him.

Match Results
- The seniors trip to Termon in Division 2 ended in disappointment with Termon winning comfortably enough.
- The U-16s lost the Inishowen final by 3 points to Buncrana, 0-15 to 2-06. Malin were a point behind at the break but were unable to build on this in the second half although they were unlucky to see a couple of shots go narrowly wide of goal, as it was, they gave a good account of themselves, well done to Buncrana on their win. The ladies match against Muff was cancelled with the visitors unable to field.
- The U-12 side were defeated in the county semi-final by Glenswilly, 2-12 to 2-11, although the 12s did well to come back from being 11 points behind at half time.
- The U-14s lost away to Carndonagh by 2-11 to 2-05, Declan Farren hitting 2-03 of Malin’s total, Tommy Byrne and Charlie Scott also doing well.
Training
Under 8 training on Sunday mornings has stopped for the summer and will resume when the schools re-open.

Match Results
- The senior side won their first away game in the 2009 league campaign on Sunday, defeating St Nauls in Mountcharles by 3-11 to 1-09. St Nauls had led by 5 points to 1 before Malin took control to run out comfortable winners, goals from Michael Doherty(2) and Conor Farren helping them on their way. Malin now have 8 points from 8 games with half the season completed, should they collect the same from the second half of the season then they should not be far away from a promotion place.
- The reserves were defeated in their game against St Nauls.
- The Junior B side recorded a good win over Ardara on Saturday evening in Division 5 of the All County League.
- The minors were defeated by Carndonagh in the Inishowen semi-final on Thursday evening.
- The U-12 A and B sides both lost to Burt at home on Tuesday evening. The club wishes a speedy recovery to U-12 player Tomas McLaughlin(Fildara) who broke his arm recently.
Club Sports Day
The club are holding a sports day on Sunday 9th August with proceeds going to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, more details to follow.

Finally, he’ll not thank me for mentioning it but birthday wishes to big Liam O’Neill who turned 40 last week. He had a smashing time apparently - then again, it's not the first time someone collided with Liam and came off worst!!
