Ladies Football
With the Ladies team now a permanent fixture in the Malin club, hopes are high for the season ahead. John McColgan and Shane McCarron have taken over from Eamonn Ryan and Susan Byrne as the Ladies team managers. With pre-season getting the players back up to peak fitness, management and players alike are looking forward to another campaign in Division 2. They will hoping to go one better in the Intermediate Championship than last year where Aodh Ruadh, Ballyshannon defeated Malin in the final. The team will look to the experience of Linda McColgan, Ciara Walsh, Roisin McDonald and Caroline Kelly to drive them towards promotion to Division One.
The big development for the Ladies is the setting up of the under age with an under 14 team being entered into the league. This is an important development in the progression of Ladies football for the area. This development ensures there is a continuous supply of players to take over from the current senior squad, while as the same time giving young girls the opportunity to enjoy gaelic football in a fun and healthy way.
Underage Football
CLG Malainn is enormously proud of the number of junior teams it boasts, especially as these teams are a vital component of the future success of the club.
The U-6 and U-8 squad has continued to increase in numbers over the past year, with regular training sessions proving both successful in nurturing new talent and enjoyable for those involved. These squads have a number of coaches ably assisted by a number of parents. - The U-10 team coached by Pat McLaughlin(f) and Seamus McLaughlin(f) has an impressive 30+ players, who have shown great commitment to training and have showcased their skills in various challenge matches and blitzes throughout the past year.
- The U-12 team coached by Mickey McCarron and Shane McCarron are filled with players of high potential and ability. Hopes are high that the season ahead will be successful. The success of the Go-Games last year with the club fielding 3 teams each week highlights the benefits of all players getting games every week
- The U-14 team are in for a busy season with Feile qualifiers, Inishowen and Donegal competitions along with a trip to the Leeds Irish festival ahead. Coached by Patrick Collins, Paco McLaughlin(f), Brendan Monagle and John McLaughlin®, the team are hopeful of a good season while developing the skills of all players
- The U-16 squad have a number of players who were involved with the Inishowen Colleges team last season. Coaches Robert Farren, Kevin McGeoghan, Hugh Farren and Shaun McLaughlin(f) will be hoping that this experience will stand to them in the season ahead.
- The U-18 team have entered Division One of the Northern League where the benefits to the team to be playing at the higher standard will stand to players and managers alike. The team is coached by Paul Martin McDaid, Andrew Davison and Sean McLaughlin (Owen).
