Club Sports Day
The 2010 sports day will take place on Sunday 12th September with proceeds going to Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The sports will begin at 1-30 sharp with races for all age groups, also egg and spoon, sack races etc while there will be numerous sideshows. This year will see the resumption of the ‘Townland Challenge’ where teams (4 men and 2 women) from each Townland will compete against each other in tug-o –war, football, and an obstacle race with the winners receiving a plaque and medals plus, more importantly, bragging rights for pride of the parish! It all promises to be mighty craic with a bar-b –q and live music in the evening and the club would seek as much support as possible on the day.
Fixtures
- The senior and reserve sides had no games last weekend as McCumhaills were involved in Championship action. This Sunday, 29th August, the senior and reserve sides travel to Kilcar in Division 2 of the All County League where the seniors will have to be at their best to get anything from a difficult fixture, the reserves also will have to perform well to get a result. Game times are 1-30 and 3-0pm and all support is welcome.
- Malin ladies meet Aodh Ruadh in the Intermediate Championship final on Sunday 29th August as they attempt to win their second county title in two years, having won last years Junior Championship. At present time and venue for the final are unconfirmed but the club would encourage as much support as possible on the day.
- This weekend the Junior B side meet Naomh Colmcille in the Junior B Championship in Muff, check press for time and date and all support is welcome.
Fundraising Draw
Malin GAA club are building a state of the art gymnasium behind the existing building which, when completed, will contain the finest modern fitness equipment available. This facility will be available for use to every person in the parish. To help fund this venture the club are running a draw with a top prize of €5.000 plus a number of other great prizes including a weeks holiday in France and weekends away in top hotels in Ireland. Tickets are €20 each or three for €50 and we would seek as much support as possible for something which will be of immense value to the future health of the parish.

- Division 5: Malin 1-16 Glenfin 4-07
A very entertaining Division 5 encounter in Malin on Thursday evening saw the home side hit the last six scores of the game to salvage a draw. Malin trailed 1-02 to a point at an early stage but fought back well to lead at the break by 1-08 to 1-05, Michael Farren scoring the goal just before half time.
Early in the second half Glenfin’s Frank Ward rolled back the years to hit a hat trick of goals to put his side 4-05 to 1-08 ahead before Malin’s late rally, top scorer of the evening Brendan McLaughlin(F) hitting the equalizing point with his 8th score of the game. Scorers for Malin were Brendan McLaughlin(F)(0-8), Michael Farren(1-01), Niall McLaughlin(0-3), Brendan McLaughlin(JM)(0-2), Brendan McGonagle, Steven McLaughlin(Davy).
- Following on from their win over North Cavan, the Colaiste Inish Eoghain U-15 panel continued their good form with a 6-10 to 0-05 win over North Donegal last Wednesday in Buncrana. Malin are represented on the panel by Conor Byrne, Mark Doherty, Matthew Crampsie, Seamus Houghton, Adam Byrne and Keiran O’Connor\Farren . Against North Donegal Keiran, Conor and Mark played in defence, Adam in midfield while Seamus and Matthew were introduced as second half substitutes.
- The U-14 side progressed to the quarter final of the Northern Division 3 Championship with a comfortable 8-06 to 2-06 win over Lifford in Malin on Wednesday evening, Malin completely dominating proceedings from start to finish. The U-14 side meet Urris away in the quarter final this week, check press for date and times.
The U-13 side were beaten at home by Burt in the Inishowen league last week.
Club Lotto
Congratulations to Molly, Eimear and Aaron Houton, Shantla, Malin, winner of the lotto jackpot of €3,200. The €20 sellers prize was won by Ronan Lafferty. The sequence drawn was 3,5,2,6,1,7,4. Next weeks jackpot is €500 and we thank the local community for its continued support.
